Number Puzzle - Involving Square

Problem involving Squares

  • In these types of problems, three squares are given with five numbers inside each square.
  • Out of the five numbers, four numbers are at the four corners of the square and one number is in the middle with some arithmetic pattern.
  • The pattern followed in the first two squares is followed in the third square also
  • Let us try some examples.

    Example : Find the missing number

    A.  10

    B.   7

    C.   2

    D.   11

    Answer : C

    Explanation : 7 x 6 = 42. 9 x 9 = 81, 5 x 3 = 15. Thus, answer will be 2 as 6 x 2 = 12.

    Example : Find the missing number

    A.  40

    B.  44

    C.  42

    D.  56

    Answer : C

    Explanation : Multiply diagonal numbers to get the middle number. Thus, multiply 7 with 6 ot 14 with 3 will be 42.
